Balayage is a hair colouring technique that has been around for quite some time but only in the last couple of years has it been so popular with our clients. One thing’s for sure it is here to stay.
The word balayage is actually French and it means “to sweep” or “to paint” and that’s literally how it works. Using a subtle colour blend that complements and lifts your natural hair colour, the colour is applied in a sweeping motion down the hair.
There are various benefits to balayage, so take a look if you are considering taking the plunge.
1. Blended natural look
As we’ve said, the colour blend is as subtle or bold as you like. The technique is designed to give you a natural, gradual transition from root to tip without any obvious or harsh lines.
2. Low maintenance
The fact that it has no obvious or harsh lines and doesn’t start from the root means that there is much less noticeable regrowth. This means you can get longer out of your application and still look fabulous.
3. No stripey effects
If you’ve ever been worried about your hair looking stripey with a typical set of foils, there is no risk of this with balayage. Balayage is a freehand technique which means it is way less uniform than foils.
4. Not as harsh
Balayage is designed to complement your natural hair colour, whilst you can be as daring as you care to be, the blended look makes your colour choice look less harsh.
5. Totally unique to you
As we’ve said, the freehand technique means that no two applications are the same. What you leave with is totally unique and will leave you feeling amazing.
